Over 30 years ago, an ad for a Village Housekeeper in the church bulletin caught her sister-in-law’s eye and she told Teresa Draper about it. When Teresa heard about the position, she thought it could be a good fit for her. “I enjoyed cleaning and making things shine. Go figure. So I applied and here I am.” The Mennonite Village campus, including Villagers’ homes, the Guest Cottages and Lakeside Center, have benefited from Teresa’s hard work and love for making things shine since 1989.
Born and raised in Albany, Teresa attended Lafayette and Calapooia schools and graduated South Albany HS. Early career interests included business and bookkeeping; she worked for a time at Home Federal Savings & Loan as a statement clerk and in the general services and loan departments.
Her interests outside of work range from quilting to solving puzzles (both jigsaw and Sudoku) to Wii bowling and golf. And in keeping with her housekeeping duties, Teresa also gathers recipes for creating natural cleaning products.
Teresa’s love for the Village residents and her enjoyment in helping them come shining through in all she does at Mennonite Village.
